A seasoned finance and development professional, Jim has an extensive background in solar development and has been on the forefront of PPA structuring and project development since the beginning of the utility scale solar industry. His unique and innovative development strategies were credited with standardizing best practices that drove down PPA prices in the Western US while maintaining above average project yields. Jim was a co-founder and Executive Vice President of Silverado Power, one of the first companies to develop sub-transmission voltage (below 70kV) interconnected portfolios along with strategic investments for large assets (100MW+) that connected to bulk transmission upgrades which was successful in every regulatory procurement channel in California. Previously, Jim was with Recurrent Energy, where he was a member of the team that developed a 350MW pipeline with 50MWs under PPAs. He later transitioned to lead the firm’s Nevada development operations and led all facets of project development, including real estate acquisition, interconnection and PPA negotiations. Prior to Recurrent, Jim originated structured short-term fixed-income products for the Debt Capital Markets group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. In this role his work included contributions to various landmark public-private instruments developed to stabilize collapsing debt markets, new policy on short-term fund management and origination of complex warehousing facilities for financial companies.
Jim holds a bachelor’s degree in Finance from Santa Clara University.
